John Peel passes away...

Just read that legendary BBC DJ, John Peel had passed away on Monday 25 Oct 2004. His ability to spot upcoming bands/artists/musicians had been globally renowned and respected among listeners and his peers. I've never really heard his show before.

But most musicians treat playing on his show as a great honour. That says a lot about the man...

Read about it in BBC On-line.

Number of the beast

Clement sent me this link about the British Royal Navy being an equal opportunities employer. Well, it's true. They hired a Satanist. I wonder if that guy can find work as a civil servant here. Guess not, the black dollar is not as strong as the pink one...

Chekkit.

Exciting day…

The whole office is forced to clear some leave. I’ve got 7 days… and I dunno what to do. Actually, 5 lah since I’m clearing 2 days next January.

Any suggestions?

Well...

It's been a couple of days since I last blogged. Wanted to catch some movies over the weekend but due to some drinking obligations, I couldn't.

However, gonna watch "Sky Captain and the World of Tommorrow", well... tommorrow. Looks good and looks like heaps of fun. Still haven't got the time to catch Wong Kar Wai's "2046". Well, I didn't watch "In The Mood For Love" though... Hopefully, this wouldn't spoil my appreciation for the show.

In any event, Andy the fucker was regaling me how the story unfolded when we were recording our demo at Weiyuan's place on Sunday. Thanks a lot, mofo!!!

The Sunday sessions didn't go too well. Well, I guess the 2nd time wasn't as toy-ght as the 1st. All of us were beat tired. I didn't prepare my parts for recording. So basically, it's pretty bad.

However, we laid down basic tracks for 'Osmosis', our drum'n'bass Malay wedding song. We did that during the only bloody gig we ever played. A very muddy mp3 can be downloaded off the Aging Youth website. Hopefully, the new version, sans the gimmicky vocal samples, will turn out fine.

Have yet to track my guitar parts for that song...

Shit...

Went out drinking with Weiyuan, b.boy and G Dawg. Promptly got wasted. Puked outside Al-Ameen prata store. Konked out for an hour.

And I was the only one wasted.

Which shows that besides having a full meal before you drink, you need to have enough sleep. You need to take your power nap in the toilet which I didn't. That's what probably killed me.

You know you are getting old... part 2

... when one of your screen heroes passed on. As most people have already known, Christopher Reeves has sucumbed to heart failure on Sunday. It's really quite sad. I can still remember watching the re-runs of Superman on TV as a child. "You will believe a man can fly."

Well, not anymore.

Rest in peace.

You know you are getting old...

The Love Experiment adjourned to Weiyuan's place to lay down some demos on Sunday... well, it took us about 12 hours to lay down one song which I should be posting on this blog soon.

His niece, a 2 year old toddler was running all over the place. She wanted to sing for us. That's very sweet of her. When I just arrived at his place, she looked up from her toys and called me, "Uncle". Sigh... Her mum aka Weiyuan's sister was like, "What? You still expect to be called KorKor?"

This kinda sucks.

Sounds like a good movie to me...

Primer, a new indie sci-fi movie.

Here's an excerpt of the review from C.H.U.D.:

Here’s the basics of the plot: Abe and Aaron are friends, engineers, who spend their time in the garage trying to hammer out new patents. They want to make something that will make them rich and while trying to create some sort of a device that can make objects lighter (the concept is that it would revolutionize shipping and travel), they accidentally invent a time machine.

The mechanics are complicated, but the machine allows them to travel back in time a few hours. They immediately begin using it to play the stock market. In fact, it’s the very first thing they do with it. Soon, though, things begin to get darker as the true level of power inherent in even limited time travel becomes obvious. And that’s before they realize they can take the machines back in time with them.

Hypocrites...

Though I'm very much aware that I, too once in a while, lapse into that phase.

I was dealt that doubled-edged sword today by a female colleague, an auntie. I was so pissed off that I nearly wanted to slap her fucken face. Being the same hierachial level as me, I can still take it if she reprimands me for not doing my things well. But no... this is da bomb!!!

This afternoon, she asked me about some matters concerning OT which I flippantly replied that I'm doing. Then she checked with my colleague, Andy who said that he was gonna replace me. She started accusing me of lying and said that how people could ever trust me again.

This is coming from a bitch who bad-mouths the manager in front of all of us, including her young daughter who comes in the office pretty often. Her daughter doesn't like the manager as well, due to her mum's influence. But hey, in front of the manager, Fucken Ol' Fuck (Andy's nickename for her)'s her best friend. The manager treats her as a confidante and they are like the best chums. FOF would buy things for the manager and not take any money.

Her excuse? "It's best not to offend these type of people who are malicious and petty... (In Mandarin, they are called 'xiao ren')" Hey, FOF, if you're willing to accomodate those type of people, it effectively makes you far worse than them!

And she does all these back stabbing in front of her young, impressionable daughter. These are values I sure wouldn't pass onto my next generation!!!

This is really F.U.B.A.R.

I've been so busy...

Well, I used to blog every day and sometimes three times a day. Nowadays... I hardly bother. It just seems that I'd rather do some planning. Yup, Aging Youth Productions is planning something. Hopefully, it'd take off... Then I'd have even lesser time to blog!

It's been some time since my colleague, Andy and I had lunch together. He was asking me today during lunch, "So what are you busy with nowadays?"

"Aging Youth stuff..."

"I mean, work stuff."

"Still Aging Youth stuff.."

There you go.
